Dodgers broadcaster Orel Hershiser brings up Astros sign-stealing scandal in Houston's historic rout over LA Los Angeles Dodgers pitching great Orel Hershiser opened up old wounds on Friday night when he brought up the Houston Astros sign-stealing scandal during the team's historic 18-1 rout at Dodger Stadium. The Astros put on a show in Friday night’s series opener between the two teams and handed Los Angeles its worst loss in the history of Dodger Stadium. The beatdown was so bad that Hershiser, now a broadcaster for the Dodgers, seemed to suggest foul play. "I don’t want to open an old wound, but in some ways, they’re swinging at these breaking balls like they know what is coming," Hershiser said in the third inning after Astros outfielder Cam Smith doubled off Dodgers rookie Ben Casparius in the third inning. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS Hershiser was referring to the Astros' 2017 World Series win over the Dodgers. It was later revealed that Houston was stealing signs with the help of video and relaying pitches to batters by banging on a trash can. Jose Altuve, who was a member of that championship-winning team, was met with relentless "cheater" chants and boos during his at-bats. But the home crowd didn’t distract him as he homered twice while reaching base five times and driving in five runs. DODGERS' CLAYTON KERSHAW JOINS ELITE GROUP IN MLB HISTORY AFTER REACHING 3,000 CAREER STRIKEOUTS "Yea, that was one you want to flush as soon as possible. I don’t think there were many positives from this night," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said bluntly of the 17-deficit loss. "I don’t think Ben [Casparius]was good tonight. It seemed like they were on everything he threw tonight." Caparius allowed six runs and nine hits in three innings and struck out three. Roberts said on Friday that Caparius will likely make his return to the bullpen. "At the end of the day, he's just got to execute better. There might have been 60 throws tonight, and probably only a handful executed where he wanted them to be. And that's tough to do," he said. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Hulk Hogan's former manager stunned by wrestling legend's death after positive phone call just one day before Jimmy Hart, Hulk Hogan’s longtime friend and former manager, was shocked by the news of the wrestling icon’s death this week, revealing that he had heard good news about Hogan’s health just a day before his passing. The WWE Hall of Famer recalled his final moments with Hogan in an interview with People on Friday. He said he had called Hogan on Wednesday, and spoke to his assistant, who had assured Hart that the former wrestler had been "doing great." "I called [Hogan] on Wednesday night, and then Thursday morning is when everything took place," Hart told the outlet. "So just…just overnight it all happened, but it was so positive the day before." CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Hogan reportedly underwent neck surgery earlier this year – the latest in a long list of surgeries that include at least 25. Hart said that he hadn’t seen his friend out of concern for his recovery. "It just hits so fast," he said of Hogan’s death. "It was like, ‘Oh my God.’ We thought he was doing so well, you know? We didn't go to see him at the house and didn't go to see him at the hospital, because we wanted to make sure that he didn't get any infections or anything else, like if anybody had a cold or brought anything in. So, that's what we all did." Hart told People that he had last seen Hogan about a month before his passing, and that he had been in good spirits talking to fans. HULK HOGAN'S WIFE REVEALS SHOCK IN EMOTIONAL TRIBUTE AFTER WRESTLING ICON'S DEATH: 'I WASN’T READY FOR THIS' "Well, tell him I love him," Hart recalled of the final message he shared to Hogan’s assistant. Initial reports on Wednesday indicated that Hogan suffered a medical emergency at his home in Florida on Thursday morning. The Clearwater Police Department later confirmed that emergency personnel responded to a medical call just before 10 a.m. at Hogan’s residence. He was treated on site for a cardiac arrest before being transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The news of Hogan’s death came weeks after he was alleged to be having a health crisis. However, his wife, Sky Daily, denied those reports at the time, saying he was "strong" and was recovering from surgeries. Like Hart, she posted a statement on Friday morning revealing her shock at his "sudden" passing. "I wasn’t ready for this… and my heart is in pieces," her message read. "He had been dealing with some health issues, but I truly believed we would overcome them. I had so much faith in his strength. I thought we still had more time." Fever's Sophie Cunningham celebrates hitting 1M TikTok followers after sticking up for Caitlin Clark Indiana Fever guard Sophie Cunningham started out last Wednesday with just over 300,000 TikTok followers coming off a heated game against the Connecticut Sun, which saw her get ejected when she doled out some retribution before the buzzer sounded. The moment she tussled with Sun guard Jacy Sheldon, who had poked Caitlin Clark in the eye earlier in the game, she became an instant sensation. Cunningham had previously gone viral before for her outfit choices while she was with the Phoenix Mercury. However, even she may admit that she never saw her popularity soar as it did over the last six days. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM On Saturday, Cunningham surpassed more than 1 million followers on TikTok and thanked her newfound fans for their appreciation. "should buy yall a beer or 2! Cheeeers friends," she captioned a video. As of Tuesday morning, Cunningham had 1.4 million TikTok followers. Cunningham gained huge favor for her apparent defense of Clark, who was not only poked in the face, but pushed to the floor in the team’s win over the Sun. CAITLIN CLARK'S SHOCKING COLD STREAK CONTINUES AS FEVER CRUMBLE IN THE FOURTH QUARTER TO ACES She was fined for her actions following the foul on Sheldon and for the ejection, but she was adamant in her defense of Clark. "During that, it was just part of the game. I think the refs had a lot to do with that. It was a build-up for a couple years now of them just not protecting the star player of the WNBA," Cunningham told reporters days after the team lost to the Golden State Valkyries. "At the end of the day, I'm going to protect my teammates. That's what I do." Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Las Vegas Aces, Cunningham showed off her bond with Clark and fellow teammate Lexie Hull. She wore a shirt that read, "Tres Leches." Cunningham and the Fever have hit a losing spell the last two games but have an opportunity to get back on the right track Tuesday night against the Seattle Storm. Pirates' Oneil Cruz gets taken out of game for baserunning blunder, admits he lost track of outs Pittsburgh Pirates star Oneil Cruz has gone through a rough few games. Cruz’s error and lackadaisical effort following a passed ball in center field raised eyebrows last week, and then, on Tuesday, he was removed from the game after he lost track of outs. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Pirates manager Don Kelly took Cruz out after he failed to run out a double-play grounder against the Milwaukee Brewers. He grounded into a 6-4-3 double play. Kelly said Cruz was removed because of "energy and effort going down the line." Cruz told reporters through an interpreter he understood the decision. "DK had all the rights to do what he did, and I’ll back him up on that," Cruz said. "It was my fault because I thought there were two outs in that situation. That’s why I let off running to first base." Kelly said he and Cruz spoke afterward, and he communicated his expectations. Cruz suffered an outfield blunder against the Texas Rangers. He misjudged a ball and watched it roll to the fence in the first inning of that game. FORMER ALL-STAR RHP NOAH SYNDERGAARD SIGNS MINOR-LEAGUE DEAL WITH WHITE SOX On top of everything else, Cruz is not hitting like the slugger he has been promised to be. He has batted .156 with 31 strikeouts this month. Overall, he is hitting .211 with an OPS of .736 and 13 home runs. He is leading the National League with 26 stolen bases but leads MLB with 101 strikeouts. "He’s struggling at the plate right now," Kelly said. "It’s difficult when you’re going through that and trying to figure it out. He’s working hard to do that. That’s one thing we’ve got to be mindful of, is not letting that offense carry over to defense and base running, and the energy and effort that we’re giving on any other aspects of the game as well." Cruz maintained that his issue on the basepaths had nothing to do with his slump at the plate. "They’re a really good example," Cruz said. "They always run hard. They always go out there to do their 100%. That’s a teaching point for me. I accepted the way DK came to me and explained it and presented it to me." Pittsburgh fell to 32-48 this season after losing 9-3 to the Brewers. The Pirates are 20-22 since Kelly took over for Derek Shelton as manager. The Associated Press contributed to this report. Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov takes Stanley Cup on 5 am neighborhood tour, GM reveals The Florida Panthers won back-to-back Stanley Cups after winning Game 6 over the Edmonton Oilers, 5-1, on Tuesday night. As one would expect, a party ensued at Amerant Bank Arena, and it lasted all night long for players and fans alike. However, what captain Aleksander Barkov did in the early hours of Wednesday morning is one of the funniest Stanley Cup stories of all time. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM A Ring camera in Barkov’s development caught him going house to house, showing his neighbors the Stanley Cup. Yes, he brought it home with him. Panthers GM Bill Zito made an appearance on ESPN’s "The Pat McAfee Show," where he shared that Barkov was walking around his neighborhood at 5 a.m. with Lord Stanley’s Cup. SAM BENNETT WINS CONN SMYTHE TROPHY AS PANTHERS CLAIM 2ND STRAIGHT STANLEY CUP "Apparently, he went home at like five in the morning to change and clean up before they kept going," Zito told the show. "And walked around the his neighborhood and banged on everyone’s front door. ‘Hey, you want coffee with the Cup?’" The Stanley Cup has been virtually everywhere over the years, especially with every player and coach getting a day with it before the new season begins. So, while Barkov’s story is not the craziest situation the Cup has been in, it is still a fun one as he wanted to share the celebration with everyone he could, even his neighbors. Barkov, now a two-time Stanley Cup champion, had two assists in the Game 6 rout of the Oilers, including the perfect pass to Sam Reinhart on his second of four goals on the night. That goal gave Florida a commanding 3-0 lead in the second period. The Panthers have played to the point where the dynasty conversation has come up, and Barkov is one of many superstars on the roster that will return for the 2025-26 season. However, preparation for three titles in a row will surely come. For now, Barkov and the rest of his teammates are keeping the party going, and he clearly wants everyone involved. Five unforgettable Hulk Hogan matches that defined wrestling history Hulk Hogan, the wrestling icon who made professional wrestling what it is today, died Thursday at the age of 71. Hogan became Vince McMahon's prized possession, as Hulkamania ran wild for decades in and out of the ring. Wrestling until the early 2000s, Hogan provided generations of fans with unforgettable moments. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM The story of Hogan, and wrestling in general, cannot be told without mentioning what is perhaps the greatest match in history. Hogan fought Andre the Giant for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship at the Pontiac Silverdome in Michigan in 1987, and the match ended with a legendary scoop-slam by Hogan to Andre, who weighed 525 pounds at the time. Hogan then gave his signature leg-drop finisher, and pinned Andre. The entire event is still widely regarded as the pinnacle event of WWE, mainly because of this match. In 1990, Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior were both beloved by fans, but only one could be considered the top dog. So, in Toronto, the two babyfaces came together in the ring and put their respective belts on the line - Hogan with the WWF title, and The Ultimate Warrior with the Intercontinental Championship. The Ultimate Warrior prevailed, giving Hogan his first clean pinfall loss since 1981. TRUMP REMEMBERS 'GREAT FRIEND' HULK HOGAN AS 'MAGA ALL THE WAY' AFTER WRESTLING ICON'S TRAGIC DEATH The patriotic Hogan faced a bout with Sgt. Slaughter, whose character was dubbed an Iraqi sympathizer during the Gulf War. During the match, Slaughter attempted to pin Hogan while holding the Iraqi flag, but Hogan kicked out and ripped it. Hogan then used the everlasting leg-drop to win his third championship, and waved the American flag in the ring as a celebration. Kevin Nash and Scott Hall, with a mystery partner, were in a tag-team match against Randy Savage, Sting and Lex Luger at the Daytona Beach WCW event. To everyone's surprise, Hulk Hogan came into the ring during the match, with many thinking he was there to support Savage, Sting and Luger. However, out of nowhere, Hogan hit Savage with not one, but two leg-drops, revealing himself as the third partner, turning heel for the first time, and officially forming the New World Order (nWo). He then hit one more leg-drop before Hall gave the three-count. Fans were so angry that they threw debris into the ring. Hogan made sporadic appearances in the WWF, and then WWE, in the early 2000s, but as the company pushed Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson to be its next top star, The Rock came face-to-face with a legend. The decibels in Toronto's Rogers Centre reached that of Joe Carter's walk-off home run in 1993, as the two came face-to-face, and infamously turned both ways to address the crowd. Ultimately, The Rock came out on top, which is often a sign of respect to the older wrestlers in the business - but the two shared multiple embraces in the ring together and got the crowd going amid their sign of unity. Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu hits career milestone in New York’s gritty win over Atlanta Sabrina Ionescu matched her season-high of 34 points to lead the New York Liberty to a double-digit comeback over the Atlanta Dream on Tuesday night, rebounding from the team’s first loss of the season over the weekend. Despite Ionescu’s 20 first-half points, New York trailed by 17 points in the third quarter and were pacing to drop their second straight game after the Indiana Fever handed the reigning WNBA champions their first loss of the season on Saturday night. But momentum quickly shifted hands midway through the quarter. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM "I think we didn't play well, we didn't have toughness, we didn't have urgency," Liberty coach Sandy Brondello said of the first half of the game. "I think we found our identity, we found some energy… We just need to play harder sometimes." New York had seven turnovers to Atlanta’s three in the first half, but that identity crisis quickly faded behind another 14 points from Ionescu and Breanna Stewart’s 11. New York picked up their 10th win of the season with an 86-81 victory. "We're really proud of the way that we fought. And, obviously, that game could have easily gone the other direction and us just kind of giving up and being frustrated, and I think you were able to see a team that stayed together, dug really deep and then kind of just figured it out on the fly," Ionescu said after the game. LIBERTY COACH EMBRACES WNBA VIEWERSHIP MILESTONE POWERED BY CAITLIN CLARK'S RETURN: 'I LOVE IT' "I'm really impressed with our ability to do that because we haven't been put in that situation this year – to go down that big and have to try and dig our way out of a hole, and I think all these experiences are just going to help us as we continue to play in games and the season goes on." Ionescu recorded a season-high of 34 points against the Fever on Saturday. She hit that mark again on Tuesday night to mark back-to-back 30-point games for the first time in her WNBA career. Atlanta rookie Te-Hina Paopao led the Dream with 16 points, Allisha Gray added 14, and Brionna Jones and Rhyne Howard both finished with 13. Atlanta entered the game tied with the Liberty and Fever in the Commissioner's Cup games, but Indiana’s gritty win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday night clinched their place in the championship game where they’ll face the Minnesota Lynx on July 1. Giants' Rafael Devers makes surprising admission on played defense after run as designated hitter with Red Sox Rafael Devers had a glove on Tuesday as he made his debut at first base during the San Francisco Giants' second game of a three-game series with the Atlanta Braves. Playing defense was largely a surprise, considering Devers was adamant about his desire to exclusively handle designated hitter duties when he was with his prior team, the Boston Red Sox. But, Devers' comments after the game were perhaps even more surprising. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM Devers said he actually prefers playing defense over exclusively picking up a bat during MLB games. "It keeps me active. It keeps my head out of just thinking about the next at-bat," Devers said according to the San Francisco Chronicle. "I’d rather be on the field than in the cage hitting all the time and thinking about the next at-bat." SURPRISED BY THE BREWERS? HOW A BUNCH OF 'AVERAGE JOES' ARE AMONG MLB'S BEST Rafael Devers had a tense spring training. During the exhibition period, Red Sox manager Alex Cora and Devers appeared to be at odds about whether he would spend time on the baseball diamond covering third base. Shortly before Opening Day, Cora confirmed Devers would handle the team's designated hitter duties on a full-time basis. However, when Boston's primary first baseman Triston Casas suffered a serious injury, it prompted another proposal from the Red Sox brass. Former Red Sox pitcher and the franchise's current chief baseball officer, Craig Breslow, brought up the idea of Devers covering first base in the future, the New York Post reported in May. However, the three-time MLB All-Star reportedly shut down the idea. During his public rebuttal of the potential position change, Devers cited the Red Sox' previous instructions related to him using his glove. "I know I’m a ballplayer, but at the same time, they can’t expect me to play every single position out there," Devers said via a translator, the Boston Globe reported in May. "In spring training, they talked to me and basically told me to put away my glove, that I wasn't going to play any other position but DH." Devers had two base hits during his first base debut with San Francisco. The Giants ultimately celebrated a 9-0 victory over the Braves on Tuesday. The Giants also won Wednesday's game against Atlanta to win the three-game series. Follow Fox News Digital’s sports coverage on X, and subscribe to the Fox News Sports Huddle newsletter.

Ex-MLB star says he would 'no longer support' Trump if US goes to war Former Cincinnati Reds shortstop Zack Cozart was a staunch supporter of Donald Trump as he defeated former Vice President Kamala Harris for the White House in the 2024 presidential election. But the one-time MLB All-Star drew a line in his support for the president on Monday as Trump called for mass evacuations in Tehran while tensions between Israel and Iran escalated. CLICK HERE FOR MORE SPORTS COVERAGE ON FOXNEWS.COM "If Trump gets us in a war, I will no longer support him, and I’m sure most of you know I love Trump," Cozart wrote in a post on X.
